When we call a wine ‘acoustic’, rather than electric, we are talking about a wine which seeks out and reclaims the roots, individuality and values of traditional viticulture. Produced using only local varieties (Garnatxa Negra, Peluda, red and white Carinyena, Macabeu and Pansal) as opposed to the "globalisation" of many wines which are so cosmetic and created using international varieties. We believe that traditional varieties are best suited to express the character and identity of this land and its culture. We seek to convey all the individuality, history, landscape and personality of Montsant. The philosophy is clear: acoustic wines, vineyard wines, unique wines, pure wines, imperfect wines, “unplugged”, non-cosmetic wines, based on the strength and uniqueness of the old vines.
Wonderful old vines
We directly manage 54 hectares (42 hectares as owners) of old noble Garnatxa, Garnatxa Blanca, Pansal and Carinyena vines within the D.O. Montsant. The vineyards are varied and are situated in the areas of Els Guiamets, Marçà, Capçanes, La Serra d'Almos, Cornudella del Montsant and El Masroig. They are located between 300 and 700 metres above sea-level and are between 25 and 95 years old. We also manage old olive trees, some of them over a hundred years old, and some almond trees.
The Marçà Winery
The winery is located on the outskirts of Marçà. We have facilities for production, barrel-ageing and bottling within the winery. It is completely climate controlled providing the ideal temperature and storage conditions. We are currently working on the construction of a new and larger winery, fully integrated into the landscape, built beneath the ground, in the Coma de l'Hostal estate (a 10 hectare estate opposite the current winery, also in Marçà).
